You all say typical, but I had to include this page. Heres what I think is the greatest music of all time. Me never met one DJ who says all this stuff is decent. But if you're on Napster (if u havent got it theres a link on my homepage), u might as well download some of this stuff. Trust me, its not as bad as they say ....
Apocalyptica
Im pretty sure you can buy some of their music in shops, but I dunno many who've ever heard of them. Four Sibelius-trained Swedes playing rock on cellos. They cover Metallica and other bands, and sometimes actually write their own stuff. All their covers are amazing except for 'fight fire with fire'. If I havent told you already, download 'nothing else matters'. Also check out Unforgiven - they did it better than the great Metallica.
Metallica
Four (or at the moment three) very talented musicians. This is the only heavy (loads of it is acoustic though) band which I would listen to. They're famed for their great timing, catchy solos planted on top of memorable ostinatos, acoustic intros, and so on. Everybody shoul, at leat once in their life, listen to Nothing Else Matters, Sanitarium (live in peace!) and Fade to Black, and of course the famed Master of Puppets. The interlude at about 4mins in my opinion rivals the great Handel; for me its the greatest piece of music written ever - acoustic ostinato, elictricc on top, all very catchy. Before this description becomes an essay, I'd better say that they recorded an excellent album with the San Francisco symphony orchestra - Metallica S&M.
Diamond Head
Cross between Metallica, Guns n Roses and Zeppelin. Classic 80s stuff. All their songs are pretty good. Get 'ishmael' (some amazing arab riffs ... come on, everyone loves arab music) and 'to the devil his due'. Diamond Head use vocals as an instrument rather than a form of expression more than most bands - all of them can sing pretty well too, which helps. |

Beatles
Sorry - i had to include them. 'Let it be' and 'fool on the hill' - greatest songs of all time?
Dace of Bass says: for me this is the greatest band EVER to grace the world of music. Classics such as Let it Be, Yesterday, Penny Lane adn From me to you haunt my exitence. I am a slave to the music of the Beatles. If you download anything you MUST get Let it Be by who else but the Beatles.
Radiohead
Weird, sad, depressing, yet mysteriously good. Kind of 'straight from the mind' music, if you get what I mean. Everything they write is decent. Check out 'paranoid android', 'fade out', 'idioteque', 'creep' - don't worry, you do belong here ...
Luna Pop
This truly amzing group is an up-and-coming Italian Pop band. They make some really funky grooving music with some spine tingling chord sequences. If you want to delight your ear drums with some sensational music Dace of Bass reccomends you download Luna Pop. Great creations are "Qualcosa di Grande", "un girno migliore", "Vespa" and "Vorrei".
